Each box is a heavy-duty plastic tote, 27 by 17 by 12 inches outside, holding 2.5 cubic feet. That is about what a large cardboard moving box holds, except it has a lid that latches, it stacks 5 high without crushing, and you never have to tape or flatten it.

How to choose a size

The bedroom count is a starting point, not an answer. What actually decides it is how long you have lived there, whether the garage is going with you, and how many books and how much kitchen you own. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one. Spare totes stack flat against a wall and cost less than running out on a Saturday.

Delivery outside the free zone

Delivery and collection are free in Chico, Durham, Paradise. Everywhere else within about 30 miles of Chico carries a convenience fee per trip, which depends on how far out you are. The delivery address and the collection address are priced separately, so a move between two towns is charged for each.
